Probably about time for an update since it's been awhile... Had a great time during the TARA RTTY melee a few weekends ago. Honestly, that was probably one of the best digital contests I've had the pleasure to work in a while. I was only on during the afternoon but I was able to make about 60 contacts just tuning up and down the bands.
I've also recently purchased a Baofeng UV-5R dual band HT. It's a decent replacement for the Yaesu FT-60R that wandered off a bit ago. It has its quirks but is a decent little radio for only $42 off amazon, though I highly recommend spending another 12ish to get the programming cable!
During the winter here I'm looking at a couple projects. First being a 6m moxon so I can be ready for next summer. The s9v18 doesn't like 6m here and my old dipole in the attic is less than optimal, even if it does work during openings. Also, I'm looking for a good QRP kit to try building. Either the upper HF bands like 20M or 15M, or maybe a 2M SSB XCVR if I can find a kit.
Anyway, all for now. A quick update of whats going on here. Hope to hear you on the air, especially if you happen to be one of the end of the world special event stations for 12/21/12... 73 de N0QBX sk
